On 5th January, a national stakeholder consultation meeting was successfully convened to strengthen and refine the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Concept Note:
The consultation was organized in partnership with OJERI – OJEong Resilience Institute and led by Bhutanโs National Designated Authority (NDA), bringing together key government stakeholders from DMDFโMoF, DHSโMoIT, Department of Forests and Park Services, DECC, Department of Tourism, Bhutan, Department of Water, and NCHM Weather and Flood Forecast. The discussions ensured strong cross-sectoral engagement and national ownership of the proposed initiative.
The session focused on sharpening the conceptโs strategic direction, aligning it with Bhutanโs national priorities, and ensuring it responds effectively to #ClimateRisk across #mountains and #downstream landscapes. The concept builds on guidance from the GCF Secretariat in Incheon, Republic of Korea, under the Third Pole Climate Initiative, and has since been tailored specifically for Bhutan.
The Korean technical consortium supporting this initiative brings together experts from OJERI (Korea University), the Asia-Pacific Climate Centre (APCC), and WIZAI, with financial support from Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute (KEITI), Republic of Korea, and co-funding from consortium institutions.
The Foundation played a key facilitative role, supporting #coordination and #StakeholderEngagement and ensuring that community voices and #grassroots realities are meaningfully reflected in the concept development process.
This consultation marks an important milestone in shaping a #transformative, #Inclusive, and #ClimateResilient future for Bhutan.
