

Recently an intensive four-day plumbing training program was successfully conducted at Phootsa Chiwog, benefiting a total of 18 participants comprising (16 M and 02 F) from villages of Chiyuel, Nobja, and Pangsella under Getena Gewog.
The training was led by Mr. Thata Bdr Darjee, a Senior Technical Officer from Chukha Dzongkhag. The comprehensive sessions covered a wide range of essential plumbing skills and knowledge, including:
– Handling Plumbing Tools: Proper use and understanding of various plumbing tools to ensure safety and efficiency.
-Safety Measures: Best practices and precautions to prevent accidents and ensure safe operation of tools and equipment.
– HDPE Pipe Installation: Knowledge about different sizes of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes, various joint types, and techniques for making Y and T connections for effective piping systems.
– Water Caretakers and Water User Groups (WUG): Roles and responsibilities of local water caretakers and community-based water management groups to ensure sustainable water supply.
– Basics of WASH: Fundamentals of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) practices to promote community health and hygiene awareness.
This training forms a vital component of the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) project, which is generously supported by the JTS. We are grateful to the Chhukha Dzongkhag Administration authorities and the community members for their full cooperation and active participation.
