


The Foundation successfully conducted a community consultation meeting on August 2 for the Naro community members, Kawang Gewog, Thimphu, led by the Project Manager. The meeting brought together over 80 community members to discuss and finalize key project activities.
Highlights from the Meeting:
Finalized the implementation timeline, with work set to begin on August 15, factoring in community convenience and the necessary clearances from the Department of Forest.
Discussed the planned project activities and Brand Naro development, confirming dates for upcoming branding events.
Conducted a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with Highland women to better understand gender-related issues in the community.
Initiated the development of the Naro Community Profile.
Deliberated on the design and capacity of the water reservoir tanks, ensuring they align with the needs of both villages. Each village also appointed a Water Focal Person to oversee the project locally.
Engaged with officials from Jigme Dorji National Park (JDNP) on the importance and potential of Non-Wood Forest Products (NWFPs).
The initiative, part of the project โProtecting the Fragile Mountain System and Enhancing Sustainable Livelihoods of Highland Communities in Naro,โ is supported by COMDEKS GEF-SGP through UNDP Bhutan.
