On 30 April 2026, the Hon’ble Founding President of Tarayana Foundation, Her Majesty the Queen Mother Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck, visited the College of Natural Resources (CNR).
A key highlight of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Tarayana Foundation and the College of Natural Resources. The agreement formalizes collaboration in areas including research, sustainable rural development, natural resource management, youth employment, capacity building, and knowledge exchange. The partnership is expected to create opportunities for students, faculty, and communities to work together in addressing rural development challenges and promoting sustainable livelihoods.

During the visit, Her Majesty also met with members of the Tarayana Club at the college. The interaction provided an opportunity for students to share their experiences and community initiatives inspired by Tarayana Foundation’s work. The club representative highlighted various volunteer activities and outreach programs undertaken by members in support of community development and social service.

Addressing the students and faculty, Her Majesty emphasized the critical role that CNR graduates will play in shaping the future of rural Bhutan. Her Majesty noted that agriculture, livestock, forestry, and sustainable natural resource management remain fundamental to the nation’s well-being and long-term development. Encouraging students to become extension leaders and agents of positive change, Her Majesty stressed the importance of bridging academic knowledge with the practical needs of communities.
In the context of Bhutan’s vision for the Gelephu Mindfulness City, Her Majesty underscored the growing responsibility of young professionals in advancing climate-smart agriculture, sustainable livelihoods, and green rural enterprises. Her Majesty encouraged students to pursue their work with empathy, humility, innovation, and a deep commitment to service.

Her Majesty also commended the efforts of the Tarayana Club and encouraged its members to deepen their engagement with communities and embrace volunteerism and service as lifelong commitments.
The visit concluded on a positive note, with the newly signed MoU paving the way for stronger collaboration between the Foundation and the College.
