Since the signing of the PES Scheme in February 2026, momentum has continued to build through a series of coordinated field engagements in Wangdigatshel Chiwog, covering Jamirey, Allay, and Majuwa villages, starting from 13 April 2026.
In close collaboration with the Phuentsholing Dungkhag Administration led by Dasho Dungpa, with support from the Department of Forest and Park Services and officials from Phuentsholing Thromde, communities came together to take meaningful steps toward strengthening watershed conservation and management.

The field activities included:
Monitoring of check dams and upstream water source areas
Community consultations to refine bylaws and action plans
Hands-on training on catch pit construction
The first joint meeting between upstream and downstream watershed committees
These efforts are doing more than improving watershed infrastructure, they are building stronger community-led systems for sustainable natural resource management. By fostering shared responsibility, strengthening local capacity, and promoting collaboration among key stakeholders, the PES initiative is laying the foundation for long-term ecological sustainability and community resilience.
Together, we are creating a future where healthy watersheds support healthy communities.
