The Saang (incense) processing machine provided to the Ngomen Tshogpa (Non Wood Forest Product Group) was successfully installed on 5th May, marking another important milestone in strengthening sustainable livelihoods for highland communities in Naro Gewog.
Along with the installation, the group also received hands-on training on operating the machine, empowering them to begin producing locally made Saang products more efficiently and sustainably. This initiative is expected to benefit not only the group members but the entire Naro community of 76 households.
The support comes through the project โProtecting the Fragile Mountain System and Enhancing Sustainable Livelihoods of Highland Communities in Naro,โ supported by COMDEKS GEF-SGP through UNDP Bhutan and implemented in partnership with the Royal Government of Bhutan.
And hereโs the exciting part!
The group will be showcasing and selling their products at the upcoming Tarayana Fair from 29thโ31st May!
Come explore authentic highland products, support local communities, and take home the rich fragrance and tradition of Naroโs handmade Saang. Every purchase directly supports community livelihoods and helps preserve traditional practices.
See you at the Tarayana Fair!
Letโs celebrate community entrepreneurship, culture, and sustainability together.
