A successful five-day (24th to 27th July) capacity-building workshop was held at the TSHAR Institute, Mongar, focusing on #sustainablei and #DisasterResilient rural housing using natural materials like #hempcrete and #bamboo, led by the volunteer Architect of the Foundation, Mr. Matej Vacek.
Faculty and technicians from the College Of Science And Technology. (CST) participated in hands-on sessions covering:
Hempcrete block production
Timber and alternative Ekra wall construction
Energy-efficient window fabrication
Prefabricated bamboo house prototype assembly
This workshop not only strengthened technical skills but also bridged traditional Bhutanese craftsmanship with modern building science, paving the way for greener, more resilient rural communities.
The Foundation is grateful to Karuna Foundation for their generous support, and to all participants and facilitators for making it a meaningful learning experience.
