Brand Naro was proudly inaugurated yesterday at the 20th Tarayana Annual Fair by Her Majesty the Founding President of Tarayana Foundation, Gyalyum Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck, and Mr. Mohammad Younus, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Bhutan.
โBrand Naroโ is a community-driven initiative under the project Protecting Fragile Mountain Systems and Enhancing Sustainable Livelihoods of Highland Communities in Naro Gewog under Thimphu Dzongkhag (SGP), funded through the COMDEKS Programme and implemented by the GEF Small Grants Programme and UNDP in partnership with the Royal Government of Bhutan.
Implemented by Tarayana Foundation in collaboration with Jigme Dorji National Park, Department of Forests and Park Services, Tarayana Rural Crafts, Thimphu Dzongkhag Administration, and Naro Gewog Administration, the initiative aims to promote sustainable livelihoods, preserve cultural heritage, and strengthen community resilience in the highlands of Naro Gewog.
This milestone celebrates the dedication and craftsmanship of the local communities, especially the Aumtshu Tshogpa (Women Self Help Group) and Ngomen Tshogpa, whose commitment and active participation have been instrumental in developing and promoting Brand Naro products.
Through community empowerment, traditional knowledge, and sustainable enterprise development, Brand Naro reflects the spirit, identity, and resilience of Bhutanโs highland communities.
