Weโre excited to share an update on our project, โHolistic Community Development with a Focus on Enhancing Housing Conditions, Improving Nutrition, and Economic Security to Strengthen Social Protection in Rural Bhutan.โ
At Tshogonpa in Lumang Trashigang, a hands-on training on climate-resilient construction is currently underway, led by our volunteer architect Mr. Matej Vacek. A total of 17 carpenters and masons from six chewogs of Lumang Gewog are actively participating.

The training, held from 16th to 25th February, covers essential skills such as carpentry, masonry, bamboo treatment, and other sustainable construction techniques. Participants are gaining practical knowledge that will directly strengthen local capacity and resilience, equipping them to build 31 houses in the area.
Weโre proud to share that the team has already completed bamboo-reinforced foundations for the first household and has now moved on to woodworking and bamboo treatment.
This initiative is more than just training; itโs about empowering communities with skills, promoting sustainable building practices, and building stronger, safer homes for the future.
