The Tarayana IKI project team, led by the Technical Director is currently in Samtse exploring the possibilities for establishing a Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) initiative, in collaboration with the Divisional Forest Office, Samtse under the Department of Forests and Park Services.
The team held a coordination meeting with the Chief Forestry Officer and staff of Samtse Forest Division to discuss potential sites, strategic approaches, team formation, and plans.
The team visited the potential sites in Tamang Dara and Bukay Dham, both under Samtse Gewog, to create awareness on the PES concept, do preliminary feasibility study, and affirm communities willingness and commitment.
Alongside the PES assessment, the team is also visiting ongoing HumanโWildlife Conflict (HWC) mitigation activities sites in the same gewog, strengthening our integrated approach to conservation and community wellbeing.

These activities are being carried out under the project Living Landscape: Securing High Conservation Values in South Western Bhutan, funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety and the International Climate Initiative.
