Workshop on Social Inclusion
The Experience Sharing Workshop on Social Inclusion was held on the 16th of April, 2015 at the Bussi-En Office, Chubachu, Thimphu. The Training team consisted of Ms. Wangmo, Programme Officer, from Tarayana Foundation and Mr. Gaden Chophel, Project Coordinator, from Draktsho Vocational Training Centre for Special Children.
The Workshop was attended by ten participants consisting of members from the Draktsho Vocational Training Centre for Special Children, Ability Bhutan Society, Disabled Persons Association of Bhutan and Bussi-En Group.
The Trainers, who were trained for six months from six different centers owned by Bussi-En in Ishikawa prefecture, Japan, funded by JICA Grassroots Grant, shared their experiences of the training. They introduced the management and programmes of the Social Welfare Services carried out by Bussi-En in Japan. The training also included a brief introduction on autism, tips for supporting autism and experiences with autistic patients in those six centers. In other sessions, topics such as Gentle Teaching and TEACCH APPROACH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication Handicapped Children), were new and important concepts to the participants. Interesting mock exercises were also conducted and the participants were given hand outs on care–giving tips during the last session of the Workshop. Feed backs and Suggestions were taken from the participants as well. The Workshop concluded successfully.
