Monitoring visit to the REAP sites in Lhuentse and Pemagatshel Dzongkags
A three member team from the head office visited the REAP sites in Lhuentse and Pemagatshel from the 7th till the 18th of October. The team was accompanied by respective Field Officers in the different sites. The monitoring visit was intended to get valid field updates on the different activities planned for the project. The villages visited in Lhuentse are: Ney, Gangzur Gewog, Kemtshong, Khoma Gewog, Yumchey and Pam in Jarey Gewog. In Pemagatshel, the team visited Nyasikhar, Chhipoong,
In all the villages, the team assessed the physical progress of the activities as well as the soft components like the formation of Self Help Groups, Group (SHG) savings, etc. As it has been only few months since the inception of the project, the physical progress was limited. However, all the community members and SHGs have started kitchen garden, group vegetable production and has also cultivated other cash crops like cardamom, potatoes, ginger etc. Some of the SHGs have even started marketing their fresh produce to the schools in their communities.
All the housing improvement works will start soon, the community members supported by the Field Officers have been busy working on the different permits required in constructing new houses. The community members will take advantage of the lean agriculture season for this particular activity and boost up the progress.
