Annual Pilgrimage
INTRODUCTION
Annual pilgrimage programme is one of the flagship programmes that the foundation carries out annually. The Programme was initiated in 2008 to commemorate the Coronation of His Majesty The Druk Gyalpo Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. Every year a group of senior citizens from the rural communities are supported to go for pilgrimage and they are accompanied by the Foundation staff to take care of their logistic needs to Bodh Gaya, India. Till date, more than 100 senior citizens have benefited from this Programme.

𝐀 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐮𝐥𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐡𝐠𝐚𝐲𝐚


The Eight senior citizens from Lumang under Trashigang and Lhuentse embarked on a 10-day life-changing pilgrimage to Dorjji Den (Bodhgaya), the sacred site of enlightenment, from 22nd Dec 2024 to 2nd January 2025. Accompanied by two coordinators, the group visited revered spiritual sites, including Nalanda, Dra Ge Phungpo, Varanasi, Shawa Regi Draphu, Lo Dru Kawa, and more.
This special program is designed to fulfill the lifelong dreams of senior citizens who have never been to Bodhgaya. it was also their first experience flying, making this journey even more memorable and transformative.
