Annual Event on Low Carbon Technology – Tarayana Foundation & College of Science and Technology, Rinchending
In order to address vulnerable sections of the community, with special focus on rural people, Tarayana works with several partners to introduce green technologies like efficient fuel stoves, solar lighting, Picohydro, biogas and eco-friendly construction techniques. The Foundation and the College of Science & Technologies (CST) collaborated in the year 2013 to develop easy to use cost effective green technologies for the communities.
Every year students team up and compete with each other to develop different cost effective green technologies. The winning entries are tested in the field and replicated in the project sites if found appropriate. This year, the theme for the green technology event was ‘Low cost insulation material’ targeted at 3rd Year students from the Civil and Electrical Engineering Departments. A total of five teams participated in the competition that was held on the 2nd of June coinciding with the anniversary of the Coronation of His Majesty the Great Fourth which is also celebrated as the Social Forestry Day. The participants were awarded cash prizes and certificates.
The participating teams gave back Nu. 10000 as their contribution to Tarayana’s work. We are touched with their spontaneous willingness to give back to society and proud to be working with the future of leaders of our country. We value the continued support of the CST management team and the enthusiastic participants who have made the annual event a resounding success and look forward to an enriching experience in the year ahead when we embark on yet another amazing journey of innovation.
